Annual Fund

Help us achieve Burke's goals by supporting the 2019-20 Annual Fund!
Last year, the whole Burke's community came together to raise more than $1.45 million dollars. We achieved an incredible 99.7% parent participation, as well 100% participation from our Board of Trustees, our Alumnae Board, and our faculty and staff. Thank you for all of your support and a wonderful year!

For the 2019-20 school year, we are keeping our goals lofty. Our financial goal is to raise $1.45 million for this year's Annual Fund and, once again, we hope to achieve 100% Parent Participation by Thanksgiving. We hope reaching this goal will allow families to enjoy the holiday season and encourage all of us to reflect on and be thankful for the Burke's community.

The Annual Fund delivers nearly 10% of the school’s annual operating budget and supports a wide range of experiences at Burke’s. Among these are academic programs, teacher professional development, student financial assistance, and the maintenance of our classrooms and beloved 3.5-acre campus. The broad reach of the Annual Fund means that each student, family, and faculty member benefits from the dollars we raise.

Additionally, the Annual Fund helps make Burke’s accessible to a broader group of families. As a community, we believe that a diverse group of students in the classroom provides a complete and outstanding education for our girls. Each year, tuition is intentionally set at a level below the actual cost of educating a Burke’s girl, and we ask our community to help bridge this difference with a gift to the Annual Fund.

Gifts of all sizes are welcome and appreciated! Please donate online to the Annual Fund or download the attached Annual Fund Form. For gifts of securities, email Selena Shadle, Director of Advancement. To make a pledge, email Diana Kaw, Associate Director of Advancement.

2019-20 Goal: 100% Parent Participation by Thanksgiving

Help us succeed in our Annual Fund goal of 100% parent participation by Thanksgiving!

Burke's parent community has reached 100% participation for three of the last four years. Like last year, for this 2019-20 school year, we hope to achieve 100% before Thanksgiving holiday. By condensing the parent Annual Fund campaign, families can start the holiday season off with one less thing on their to-do lists. Also, volunteer and staff resources can be shifted to focus on the end of year with other constituencies and then on the many other important priorities at the school in the spring. Most importantly, with a shortened timeline, our critical Annual Fund donations can begin working for our 400 students even earlier in the school year.

Burke's Loyalty Society

Donors who contribute to the Annual Fund nine consecutive years or more become members of the Burke's Loyalty Society. Loyalty Society members are the foundation of the Annual Fund and their longtime support is honored and deeply appreciated. Their consistent giving allows Burke’s to maintain its high standard of excellence and ensures that every student will receive the tools necessary to thrive.

For more information about the Loyalty Society membership benefits and to see a list of our 2018-19 Loyals, please visit the Loyalty Society page.
The Annual Fund provides much-needed income to balance the school's operating budget each year. By giving back through the Annual Fund, you made the following possible last year:
  • One in five students on financial assistance
  • 43,029 books in the Library
  • 75,050 meals served in the cafeteria
  • 538 pansies for Pansy Day
  • 2,000 LED light bulbs for Makery projects
  • 4 acres of campus maintained
  • 143 games were played by our athletic teams
  • 47 Burke's students becoming proud alumnae
Burke's mission is to educate, encourage and empower girls. Our school combines academic excellence with an appreciation for childhood so that students thrive as learners, develop a strong sense of self, contribute to community, and fulfill their potential, now and throughout life.
