Upper School Students Walk Out to Protest Gun Violence

It was pouring at Burke's on the morning of Wednesday, March 14, but that didn't stop dozens of empowered Burke's girls from peacefully and quietly walking out of class to the Lincoln Park Steps.

The resulting protest, part of the National School Walkout, was a powerful 17 minutes of silence as students, teachers, parents, and board members paused to remember the 17 lives taken in February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., and to ask for action from lawmakers on gun violence in schools.
