Our Plan in Action: A Video Tour Through Understanding by Design

Most curriculum that's been developed by Burke's teachers over the last four years has one thing in common: Understanding by Design. This framework guides educators through an intentional, thoughtful process as they put together units in their classroom, working backward to achieve a particular learning goal.

Teachers are currently using UbD to design units on Social-Emotional Learning, movers and shakers in San Francisco, grammar, hockey in P.E., service learning, and much more.

But...what does that mean?

Check out this video for a deeper dive into Understanding by Design and what it means for curriculum at Burke's.
