A Project-Based Learning Field Observation
Last month, members of the Library and Makery team went on the road to visit High Tech High (HTH) in San Diego. The goal was to explore how High Tech High teachers were using technology, project-based learning (PBL), and information & media literacy to engage their students.
The HTH field observation resulted in affirmations of existing Burke’s PBL classroom practices, as well as inspiration around ways to assess learning, build out classroom projects, integrate field research expertise and enhance student peer-review processes. Faculty will be bringing this inspiration into their classrooms immediately, and continue to enhance their skills at events such the PBL workshop that will be offered to all of Burke’s teachers as part of the April 2019 Professional Development day.
