Burke's takes pride in its diverse and inclusive community and seeks to enroll students of many cultural, religious, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The admissions process for students begins in the fall prior to the planned year of attendance. We admit students to kindergarten through eighth grade, with kindergarten as the main entry point and other grade levels being filled as space becomes available. Please note that all applicants to kindergarten must be age 5 by September 1 of their kindergarten year. We work hard during the admissions process to learn a great deal about the applicant and her family and for you to get to know us. We view a student's application as a whole — based on academic and social skills, developmental readiness, and school recommendations.           Immunization forms may be sent to from you or your pediatrician’s office. We accept both digital and hard copies.

    Step 5: Schedule your Individual Screening and Group Social Visit
    Each applicant to kindergarten will complete two evaluations for Burke's. The first evaluation is an individual screening hosted at the Congregation Emanu-El of San Francisco in January 2019. The second evaluation is a group social visit on the Burke's campus in January-February 2019. Scheduling for both evaluations will be available online starting November 2018.

     Step 6: Receive your Decision on March 21, 2019
    Admission decisions will be emailed at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Enrollment agreements are due back the following week on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 10 a.m.

    Families interested in applying for financial assistance should submit an application by January 31, 2019. If you would like to learn more about our financial assistance process, we invite you to attend our Financial Assistance Workshop on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Application Deadlines

  • To begin the process, submit on online inquiry by clicking on the "Request Info" button. Then, at least one parent or guardian must attend a tour, conducted between October and November, in order to submit an application.
  • All kindergarten applications must be submitted by Monday, December 10, 2018 with a non-refundable $100 application fee. Please contact Natalie Mast if you need a fee waiver due to financial constraints.
  • All 1-8 applications must be submitted by Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Please contact Natalie Mast if you need a fee waiver due to financial constraints.
  • Families interested in applying for financial assistance should submit an application by Thursday, January 31, 2019. We are currently rescheduling our financial assistance workshop, due to the unhealthy air quality in the Bay Area.

  • All admissions decisions will be sent out electronically at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Parents and guardians will have a week to contemplate their decision and share it with the school.
