Working both individually and in teams, girls will spend the week designing, creating, and making various projects that incorporate all of the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) disciplines.

Basic Information: This popular camp returns to Makery Down for 2019! Campers will use Hummingbird Robotics Kits to design, program, and create an animal that will come to life for a Robotic Petting Zoo!

Registration costs $475 for the week; please note, lunch is not provided.

  • Dates: Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28. A camp expo will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday; there will be no extended care that day.
  • Registration is open to rising third- through seventh-grade girls
  • Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with afternoon extended care available from 3-4:00 p.m. for an additional fee of $50.
To be able to provide individualized support and instruction, the session will be limited to 30 participants, accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Camp fills up quickly — we encourage you to register early!

In order to receive a full refund on any summer class or camp, cancellations must be received no later than seven days before the class or camp starts.

About the Instructor

Susan Deemer, Burke’s Upper School Makery Facilitator and mother of an alumna from the Class of 2017, has been a middle school science teacher, Maker Space Coordinator, and coach for over 20 years. In addition to being a National Board Certified Science Teacher and certified Maker Educator, Susan recently completed the coursework necessary to become a certified Computer Science teacher.
