Mission
At the Tree House, we strive to create a safe and fun after-school environment that provides enriching activity options for our students and maximum flexibility to accommodate our parents’ schedules.

Who
The Tree House is available to all Lower School students. The daily program consists of supervised indoor and outdoor play, projects, and occasional access to the Lower School labs and studios. At the heart of our program is the belief that students benefit when they play and learn with multiple age levels. Developing skills across a spectrum of ages and abilities, younger students may try new skills earlier while older students gain a sense of responsibility and empathy as student leaders.

What
We offer a variety of projects and activities including:
  • Arts and crafts
  • Story/share/game days
  • Board games and dramatic play
  • Approximately one hour and 15 minutes of outside play
  • After-school computer, art, and science taught by Burke’s teachers on specified days
  • Homework/study time
When
The Tree House is open from dismissal to 6 p.m. daily (unless otherwise noted in the calendar or in Tuesday Notes) and there is no Tree House for kindergarten during the first week of school and on Pansy Day, the last day of school.

On Lower School early dismissal days, the Tree House is only offered when there is a minimum enrollment of five students.

How
Please email Ms. Q at cyndera@kdbs.org to enroll your child in Tree House. The cost is $12 per hour and is billed through TADS.

Billing Update

Starting in the 2017-18 school year, Burke's will be billing for ASEP classes and Tree House through the TADS system currently used for tuition payments. Parents will not be required to pay for these programs via check or credit card. All financial assistance will be automatically applied in the billing.
