Summer Borrowing Guidelines
Parents may borrow as many summer books as they want!  Come with empty boxes, bags, even suitcases to stock up for summer reading fun!

Lower School students currently in first, second, and third grades and returning in the fall may borrow up to four summer books during a final class library visit in early June.

Students currently in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grades and returning in the fall may borrow as many summer books as they want.

The public library is also an excellent source for summer reading books. We send booklists to local bookstores as well, and those bookstores are listed on the Summer Reading lists.

In order to borrow books for the summer, it is necessary to have a clear record from the school year! Those with lost material are asked to pay a replacement cost which appears on overdue notices. Bills will be sent in the summer for anything still on the record after school ends. For questions, please contact Maria Shuman at maria@kdbs.org.

Summer Reading Program
A summer reading program will be available to girls entering second, third, and fourth grades. The theme will be announced toward the end of the year. Materials for the Summer Reading Program will be sent home with the girls in early June. Materials will also be available on the Burke’s website under Academics/Library.

Summer Reading Lists
Summer reading lists will be sent out by email. The summer reading lists will also be available in the Library and on the Burke’s website under Academics/Library. Upper School students have required reading.
