Burke's Sixth Graders Rock the Fillmore

Less than a week before Burke's Rocks! Dinner Auction 2015, sixth-grade art students got into the spirit with a trip to the legendary concert hall The Fillmore on the afternoon of Monday, March 16.
The visitors — including Upper School art teacher Pedro Mena, librarian Helen Wiley, humanities teacher Barbara Handler, science teacher Carol Moran and US counselor Morgan Howson — were treated to a special tour of the performing space, including the private poster gallery (pictured), which is typically closed to the public.

"The girls learned about the history of the 100-year-old building, how technology has changed the production of a show and the influence immigrants had in establishing the neighborhood as a diverse destination for the arts," said Mr. Mena.
