Facebook's First Female Engineer Speaks at Burke's

Two of the tech world's top women stopped by the Upper School assembly on Monday, February 2, to share their stories about how (and why) they found their way into their careers.
Ruchi Sanghvi (pictured) was the first female engineer at Facebook, where she conceptualized such popular features as the News Feed, and after leaving Facebook, she co-founded a company that was later sold to Dropbox. Nina Mehta is currently a designer for Pivotal Labs, which brings together her background in journalism and her skills in programming.

The two spoke about working through their fears to find their dream jobs, especially in an industry that is changing so dramatically in such a short period of time. Mehta, who took the middle photo and posted it to her Twitter account, said, "Like me, the awesome girls at the @BurkesSchool don’t know what to be when they grow up because it doesn’t exist yet."
