Why Didn't I think of That? Invention Convention
On Friday, March 8, the third and fourth grade girls celebrated Burke's eighth annual Invention Convention. For several months, the students have been hard at work creating inventions to solve everyday problems, such as "My dog comes in the house with muddy feet" or "My dad's always losing his glasses." They used the same design process that professional inventors use: observation, identifying the user's need, brainstorming, prototyping, testing, and modifying. The resulting inventions were fun, creative and practical. The entire school community - family, teachers, staff, and students from kindergarten through Upper School - came to see the inventions and talk with the proud inventors.
