
Interim Lower School Director
Katherine Delmar Burke School is an independent K-8 girls' school located on a 3.5 acre campus in San Francisco. Based on a 100-year tradition of educational excellence, Burke's today is one of California's leading elementary schools. The school combines strong academic and co-curricular programs with an emphasis on personal growth in a diverse and inclusive community. Burke's is seeking an Interim Lower School Director for the academic year 2010-11, following the retirement of its long-term Lower School Director in June 2010. The Interim Lower School Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the K-4th grade program at Burke's. She/he must have a strong understanding of child development, K-4th grade curriculum, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with children, teachers, and parents. Classroom experience with lower school students is desired. The Interim Lower School Director will be part of the Senior Administrative Team and will report directly to the Head of School.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children and adults
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
- Educational background and/or experience commensurate with the position
- Facility with curricular and pedagogical trends for lower school teaching and learning
