Bravo! Bravo! Opera a la Carte

"Bravo!" to our 6th grade for their spectacular performance in Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment at Burke's annual Opera a la Carte assembly program. Sponsored by the San Francisco Opera Guild, the opera is tailored especially for students to have the unique experience of performing alongside professionally trained opera singers. Using curricular materials and guidelines provided by the guild, the girls began their study of the opera early in the school year under the collaborative direction of thier teachers, Deborah Thomson, Upper School Music,  and Pamela Rickard, Upper School Drama.

The opera singers applied the finishing touches of costumes and cues during the dress rehearsal on the morning of the performance, and our students were ready for their opera debut. The audience -- comprised of 4th - 8th grade students and 6th grade parents -- responded with resounding applause for the highly entertaining performance by the entire cast! Bravo!
