Valentine Making - A Families Event

Burke's School Families are a special way we build community and create new connections between Lower and Upper School students, as well as teachers and staff. Each family is composed of big and little sisters from every grade and teachers and staff acting as school parents.

A favorite Families event is a big/little sister day where the "Burke's sisters" eat lunch together and make Valentine cards for senior citizens living in several local nursing homes. Each pair of girls is given the name of someone who would like to receive a card. The girls create a unique one-of-a-kind card addressed to the senior. The cards are collected and delivered to the nursing homes around Valentine's Day. We are told the seniors look forward to receiving their Valentine each year.
