Burke's girls advocate for themselves and others, take courageous risks and grow into the best versions of themselves. Why? Students are free to be who they are. They're supported and cared for deeply. They know their strengths, areas for growth, and how to adapt to different situations.
Why a Girls' School?
After more than 100 years of educating young women, we still have a passion for single-gender education. Why? The answer lies in girls who aren't afraid to raise their hands, sports teams where every position is filled by a young woman, and the impressive slate of high schools and colleges that our alumnae eventually attend. According the International Coalition of Girls' Schools, girls' school graduates plan to enter engineering at a rate three times that of their co-ed school counterparts, and given that Burke's is located in a city where the booming tech industry is dominated by men, that speaks to us.
Burke's mission is to educate, encourage and empower girls. Our school combines academic excellence with an appreciation for childhood so that students thrive as learners, develop a strong sense of self, contribute to community, and fulfill their potential, now and throughout life.
