Drama

Students in first through fourth grade perform one play each year, chosen to augment content presented in their academic subjects. They experience the challenge of memorizing lines, speaking in public, working in ensemble and portraying character and mood. Through plays, Lower School students develop and focus imagination, discover individual strengths and gain personal confidence. Students learn the joy and fulfillment of working in community as equal partners in making a story come alive for their audience. One of the hallmarks of the drama program in the Lower School is that every student participates on an equal basis.

At every level, we emphasize performing honestly and effectively on the stage; we address projection, diction, enunciation, pace, memorization, listening, concentration and focus. Music and art are incorporated into every production.
